In various studies, it has been discovered that environments with wooden structures lower blood pressure and heart rate and induce feelings of relaxation. Wooden environments reduce stress just like walking in the woods does.
The effect of wood on people has been studied in many countries. Marjut Wallenius, PhD and Docent in Psychology at the University of Tampere, evaluated the results of several studies conducted in Norway, Japan, Canada and Austria at Eco Log House request. The research results consistently prove that the use of wood promotes people’s physical and mental health and wellbeing. Wood has a similar stress-reducing effect as exposure to nature.
