Des planches de bois rabot\u00e9es sont coll\u00e9es ensemble, obtenues par sciage longitudinal de grumes brutes. Lorsqu\u2019un tronc d\u2019arbre est sci\u00e9, la \u00ab tension \u00bb du bois accumul\u00e9e entre les cernes au fil des ann\u00e9es de croissance est rel\u00e2ch\u00e9e. Si cette tension n\u2019est pas supprim\u00e9e, le bois peut se d\u00e9former ou se tordre pendant le s\u00e9chage.\n\nApr\u00e8s s\u00e9chage, le bois est rabot\u00e9 jusqu\u2019\u00e0 atteindre une puret\u00e9 maximale. Les pi\u00e8ces soigneusement s\u00e9ch\u00e9es sont coll\u00e9es dans leur longueur avec une colle sp\u00e9ciale, puis \u00e0 nouveau rabot\u00e9es. Elles sont ensuite regroup\u00e9es en paquets sp\u00e9ciaux et plac\u00e9es dans une presse sp\u00e9ciale.
